Applications are sought from AURA members wishing to be considered for selection in the Australian Team participating in the 2019 Trail World Championships (44km) which will take place in Mirandha da Corvo Portugal on June 8 2019

Rules and Process
- AURA members nominating performances should provide an accurate and truthful outline of the nominated performance. The same AURA Member may nominate more than one performance.
- Ultra Performances or Milestones are not restricted to AURA events and any achievement that incorporates ultra running may be considered. Performances at Australian or International events / locations qualify. Potential nominations may include but are not limited to:
- Breaking of a world or national record
- Completion of a significant multi day run such as trans Australia
- High level performance at an overseas event such as Hard Rock, MDS, Badwater etc
- The achievement of a milestone number completions of the same event
- Performance at a World Championships event
- Breaking a record at an Australian Ultra Running event
- The person nominated for achieving the nominated performance must have been a member of AURA at the time of the performance
- The person submitting the nomination must be an AURA member at the time of making the nomination
- People voting for the short listed nominations must be an AURA member. Only one vote per member is permitted.
- AURA members will vote on the short listed performances by ranking them in order from 1 to 5, 1 being the performance they see as being most worthy of winning. Points will be allocated as follows:
- Each number 1 ranking will receive 5 votes
- Each number 2 ranking will receive 4 votes
- Each number 3 ranking will receive 3 votes
- Each number 4 ranking will receive 2 votes
- Each number 5 ranking will receive 1 vote
- The performance with the most points in total will be declared “AURA’s Ultra Performance of The Year”
- The voting process will be through an online form found on the AURA website.
- Nominations open Tuesday 1 January 2019 and close Monday 14 January.
- The AURA Committee will select the five short listed nominations by Wednesday 16 January
- Voting will commence through an online form on the AURA website on Thursday 17 January, and will close at 11:59pm Thursday 24 January.
- The winner of the 2018 “AURA Ultra Performance of the Year Award” will be announced on Australia Day 26 January 2019.

You’ll just get me emailing you back asking for the photos sent in the correct way! As many photos as possible. With our new website, it’s now easier than ever to include a nice gallery in each race report No PDFs please And remember, it doesn’t have to be about an AUTRA-listed event specifically! You just have to be an AUTRA member for the 2026 year. AUTRA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Wednesday 15 April 2026
AUTRA has been in direct contact with the organisers of the Snowies Trail Run Festival, In2Adventure, regarding a recent situation involving an athlete and the event’s in‑person safety briefing requirements. In2Adventure has confirmed that the situation was discussed directly with the athlete at the time. From In2Adventure’s account, and for the purpose of clarifying the public record, AUTRA notes the following points: At no stage was the athlete prevented from breastfeeding at the event. The organiser states that the following options were offered to enable the athlete to participate while still meeting safety requirements: a quiet and private space where she could breastfeed while still being present at the briefing; the option to receive the required briefing at the 30 km start line after the start; and the option to change her registration to the 21 km event, where the briefing is conducted on the start line. At no stage prior to event registration on Saturday night did the athlete contact the organiser to advise of her situation or request alternative arrangements, which limited what could be put in place at the time. Face‑to‑face safety briefings have always been a requirement for In2Adventure events due to the remote and higher‑risk nature of the trails. AUTRA was aware that in‑person briefings were used and had not raised concerns about that general approach. The organiser has indicated that this requirement is driven by safety, duty‑of‑care and insurance obligations, and follows previous experience where remote or online briefings resulted in athletes starting events without critical safety information. The organiser maintains that the event was not conducted in a manner that was intended to be non‑inclusive, inflexible or discriminatory, and that decisions made on the day were based solely on safety requirements that apply equally to all participants. AUTRA’s aim in issuing this statement is solely to clarify the context and ensure that the public record reflects the information provided to us by the organiser.
