GOVERNANCE
AUTRA is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, accountability, and transparency across all activities. Recognising the dynamic nature of sport and the evolving landscape of governance and compliance, the "2025" Committee; with President Gary Mullins; commenced a comprehensive review of existing policy frameworks. This process established a clear roadmap to ensure all legislative obligations and good governance principles are embedded across every aspect of the Association’s operations while minimising the impact and cost as far as possible on members, volunteers, coaches and race directors.
To support this commitment, AUTRA’s policy framework provides robust guidance for areas including member protection, child safeguarding, international team selection, privacy and data protection, fair disciplinary processes, and more. By implementing clear and regularly reviewed policies, AUTRA strives to foster a safe, inclusive, and fair environment for all members, volunteers, athletes, officials, and stakeholders.
This ongoing review and improvement process is designed to ensure compliance with Australian law and contemporary best practice, including:
- The Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 (Vic)
- Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 (Vic)
- Working With Children Act 2005 (Vic)
- The Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)
- Tax Assessment Act 1997 (Cth)
- The Sport Integrity Australia National Integrity Framework
- Standards and guidance issued by Australian Sports Commission and other national sporting bodies
AUTRA regularly assesses, updates, and communicates its policies to reflect legislative changes, new policy directives, and the needs of its members.
The Governance Officer, together with the Committee and President, actively oversees this process, welcoming input and feedback from all stakeholders.
