Upcoming Events

ALL EYES WERE ON THE MIRRIM WURNIT BACK PADDOCK ULTRA over the weekend, with a special guest making an appearance for the entire event – keep reading for more!

And as always, if you find any discrepancies at all with your timed result, or have noticed a name missing, please email kate.dzienis@aura.asn.au with the information required.

We are always wanting to publish your race reports too in our monthly Ultramag digital magazine, so please consider putting fingers-to-keyboard and emailing us your experiences – they don’t have to be about AURA listed events either. So long as you’re an AURA member, we want to hear all about it! Email ultramag@aura.asn.au to get into the May edition.

MIRRIM WURNIT BACK PADDOCK ULTRA

Last one standing race Mirrim Wurnit Back Paddock Ultra was held over the weekend from 30 April to 1 May (2022), and is known as the original, and first, backyard ultra introduced into Australia.

Held on Mirrim Wurnit, a private property in rural Victoria, the course incorporates the entire farm and provides runners an opportunity to race a 6.67km loop that is both trail and cross country.

It’s also a silver ticket event, meaning the winner is offered a slot on the Australian team for the World Championships later this year. But the awesomeness of Mirrium Wurnit didn’t end there, with the man himself, Gary ‘Lazarus Lake’ Cantrell flying in from the US to play host to the race and keep tabs on everyone.

This year’s LOS was Ross McPhee who completed a total of 31 laps, an incredible performance. The Assist went to Donald Bailey.

Congratulations to all 31 entrants who did so incredibly well, including David Giles, Roleystone WA (8 laps), Jason Kell, East Perth WA (3 laps), Michael Duyvestyn, Mount Martha Vic (11 laps), Ben Nicholls, Timboon Vic (16 laps), Richard North, Maidstone Vic (11 laps), Lochie Ngo, Melbourne Vic (6 laps), George Mihalakellis, Mount Waverley Vic (15 laps) and Ben Hirst, Allens Rivulet Tas (24 laps).

UPCOMING EVENTS
