Meet Iain Best - AUTRA's new Director of Events

AUTRA is thrilled to welcome Iain Best to the committee as our new Director of Events.

Canberra-based Iain came to ultra running in 2018 and hasn't looked back since, though his journey has taken some exciting turns along the way. In 2024, he made a deliberate pivot toward uphill mountain running, earning selection in the Australian Skyrunning Team and going on to represent Australia at two Skyrunning World Championships as well as the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships. It's a résumé that speaks for itself.

But for Iain, it's never just been about the racing. What drives him is something most of us in this community will recognise immediately.

"I love the community that our events create in some of the most beautiful parts of Australia," he says, "and I'm grateful for the opportunity to support all of them."

That perspective, of someone who has toed the line at events across the country and understands firsthand what makes them special, is exactly what Iain brings to the Director of Events role. We're excited to have him on board and look forward to everything ahead.
