YOUR SAY: NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY

Kate Dzienis • February 28, 2018

Since 2002, AURA has held an annual championship across several time and distance based events, for AURA members only. This has led to trophies being awarded to members who finished outside of the event placings, failing to recognise those who would might otherwise be the “Australian Champion” for an event except for their non-member status.

The AURA committee are divided on whether to change the championships to be all-encompassing, making all (Australian) participants eligible for the trophies regardless of membership. This would go some way towards making the events truly “National Championships”, but might remove incentive for people to join AURA for the championship eligibility.

The committee has therefore decided to seek the opinion of the AURA membership on the matter. Please complete the form below to have your say!
