Great Ocean Road Running Festival, Vic

The Great Ocean Road Running Festival was held at the weekend from May 18 to 19 and a number of AURA members ran in the 60kms ultra race on the Sunday. Across all events (60kms, 44kms, 23kms, 14kms, 6kms and 1.5km Kids) more than 8200 people took park, an increase of over 700 people in 2018.

It was perfect weather on both days, which led to fantastic racing conditions for runners and it was AURA’s very own Ashley Watson from Nerrina, Vic who took 1st Male with a glorious 3:55:10 to complete the 60kms event.

Not far behind him was Michael Wakefield from Kelso, NSW in a time of 4:08:35 to take 2nd Male.

Tash Fraser from Ballarat, Vic claimed victory as 1st Female with 4:32:44 and Winmalee’s Leigha Wills took hold of 2nd Female after crossing the finish line in 4:54:26.

Congratulations to all our members who ran and completed the ultra marathon at the event including Daniel Wright (4:29:22), Kevin Muller (4:39:54), Daragh O’Loughlin (5:21:25) and Pam Muston (6:13:12).

Next on the AURA calendar of events is the West Macs Monster (231kms and 65kms) in the NT starting May 24 and the Woodchopper’s Ultra (50kms) in WA on May 25.
