Run to Wynn

Run to Wynn was held on January 10 in the scenic area of Tea Tree Gully. Consisting of a 10km out-and-back loop along the Dry Creek corridor from Wynn Vale Dam onwards, runners were offered a variety of distances, including an ultra distance of 50km.

Two competitors raced in the 50km – Dave Brown claiming 1st Male and Dylan Maude claiming 2nd.

Sun Run
The GoodRunnings’
Sun Run was held on Saturday, 16 January along the Torrens River, north of Adelaide. The course was a 7.5km loop along the river, with all distances more than 7.5km planned as multiple loops.

Race options included 1km, 2.5km, 5km, 7.5km, 10km, 15km, half marathon, 30km, full marathon, and two ultra distances – 50km and 60km.

There were no participants in the latter two.

Two Bays Trail Run
The highly anticipated
Two Bays Trail Run was held on Sunday, 17 January and saw a total of 269 runners crossing the finish line.

Podium finishers in the 56km for the men were Matthew Whittaker (4:07:21), Travis Boyle (4:26:20) and Zachary Beasley (4:35:34).

For the women’s 56km top spots went to Tegan Geall (5:15:53), Caroline Bertrand (5:19:13) and AURA’s very own Amelia Griffith from Watsonia, Vic who took 3rd Female (and 1st in W40-49) with a time of 5:24:14. Keep an eye out for her race report coming up in January’s Ultramag.

Congratulations to all our AURA members who raced at Two Bays including Mak Sawa (5:33:43), Stuart Hughes(5:37:28), Jonathan Ennis-King (5:43:32), Steven O’Connell (5:47:22), Darian Cairns-Cowan (6:27:32), Karen Mickle (7:05:26) and Mathew Schubert (7:33:36).

Coming up
The
Australia Day Ultra will be held on 23 January along the Australind Foreshore in WA, 160km south of Perth. The event sees runners on an out-and-back course known to be flat and fast – the perfect place to set a PB. Distances offered include a 100km, 75km, 50km and 25km.

The Sandman 50 will also be held in WA the weekend of 30 January, in Dunsborough. Offering a 50km distance from Old Dunsborough boat ramp to Busselton Jetty and back, participants race along the beach.
