Host events decided by Committee for 2018 Australian Championship

Kate Dzienis • October 23, 2017

The AURA Committee met for its October meeting earlier in the month where the host events for the 2018 Australian Championship were decided.

The successful events were:

Short Trail (45-80kms): Two Bays Trail Run in Vic to be held on 14 January, 2018.
Long Trail (90kms+): Blackall 100 in Qld to be held on 20 October, 2018.
50km Road: Australian Running Festival in the ACT to be held on 15 April, 2018.
100km Road: Gold Coast 100 in Qld to be held on 10 June, 2018.
24-Hour: Adelaide 24 Hour in SA to be held on 14 July, 2018.
48-Hour: Canberra 48 hour in the ACT to be held on 16 March, 2018.

AURA President Rob Donkersloot said the events were chosen to provide a range of dates throughout the year in a variety of locations so the majority of AURA members would be within driving distance of at least one championship event.

“Blackall 100, Canberra 48 Hour, Australian Running Festival and Gold Coast all hosted these championships in 2017,” he said.

“Two Bays has done so previously also.

“2018 is shaping up to be an incredible year of ultra running in Australia with some superb events on the calendar.

“These Australian Championship races are sure to be some of the most closely fought of what promises to be an amazing program of competitive running.”

The AURA committee thanks all those event organisers who applied.
