Glasshouse standing backyard ultra race

31 december 2024 - brisbane, qld

I flew to Queensland with carry-on … nothing else - I was so grateful that a couple of my sister’s friends lent us a chair & mozzie net. And my niece and brother-in-law helped with set up and pack down which I most certainly would not have been able to do solo.

Having done quite a few BYU races I knew that mentally I had to overcome the fact that I knew no one, and that most of the supporters were locals. A huge mind game. I also knew that the weather (humidity) would play a crucial role in what and when I ate and how I regulated my sweat.

I remember standing in the corral on the very first loop and thinking ‘wow there is a lot of testosterone, like spot the female…

The trail loop was beautiful however became a little dangerous once it started raining and started to get dark with a few runners tripping.

I entered the race not knowing anyone but left with a friend - Nic. The chats, the laughs and the camaraderie were a wonderful distraction.

However, my sister, Ali Lambole, was next level AMAZING!! She had my back, knew my needs, heard my worries, and just kept saying … just one more …

I am so proud I got to be the ASSIST (2nd person left standing) and Last Female Standing.

I could never have done what I did without my bestie by my side.
