Expressions of Interest Open: Australian Team Manager (APTRC 2026)

The Australian Ultra & Trail Runners Association (AUTRA) is seeking Expressions of Interest for the volunteer position of Australian Team Manager for the 2026 Asia Pacific Trail Running Championships (APTRC).

The championships will be held in Wuyishan, Fujian Province, China, from 24–28 November 2026, bringing together the best trail runners from across the Asia Pacific region.

About the Role

The Team Manager plays a vital leadership role in supporting Australia's athletes before, during and after the championships.

Working closely with the AUTRA Committee, athletes and event organisers, the Team Manager will:

• Coordinate team communications and preparation prior to departure.
• Assist with travel, accommodation and logistical planning.
• Attend official Team Managers' and technical meetings.
• Coordinate team activities, schedules and ceremonies during the championships.
• Foster a positive, inclusive and athlete-first team environment.
• Support athlete wellbeing while representing AUTRA and Australia professionally throughout the campaign.
• Participate in a post-event debrief and provide a short report to assist future Australian teams.
• The Team Manager will need to have a current and valid volunteer Working With Children Check.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

• Organised and reliable.
• An excellent communicator.
• Calm under pressure.
• Passionate about trail and ultra running.
• Able to work collaboratively with athletes, crew and volunteers.
• Available to participate in pre-event planning, travel to the championships and complete a short post-event debrief.

Previous experience managing sporting teams or endurance events is desirable but not essential.

Volunteer Appointment

This is a volunteer appointment for one championship campaign only. AUTRA will advise the successful applicant of the support provided for this event, which may include accommodation, official uniform, approved expense reimbursement and/or a volunteer allowance.
