International Events

AURA’s very own Stephen Redfern from Engadine, NSW raced in the Hong Kong Four Trails Ultra Challenge which was held the weekend of January 25 and 26. The race requires all participants to be self-sufficient, and cover four courses in as much time as possible – each runner is responsible for their own transport between courses, which may include a car with driver, taxi and/or ferry.

Redfern completed the four trails – the first was a 100km trail, the second a 78km, the third a 50km and the fourth a 70km trail – and claimed 2nd Finisher in 54 hours 46 minutes.

He also claimed the fastest time from a non-Hong Kong based runner.

After speaking with Redfern earlier this week, he is currently still in recovery mode and grateful for everyone’s support and congratulations.

Coming Up

The next races on the AURA-listed calendar of events will be held later in the month, and include the second annual Delirious W.E.S.T which starts in Northcliffe, WA and gives participants a chance to race 200 miles in the state’s south west and great southern regions. It is run almost entirely on the Bibbulmun Track and those entered have from 19 February (Wednesday) to Sunday (23 February) 3pm to make their way to the finish line.

Also featured later this month is the Lark Hill Dusk to Dawn Ultra in Port Kennedy, WA where participants race along a GPS-measured 3km limestone loop course under the moon and stars to complete 25km (8 laps), 50km (17 laps) or 100km (34 laps).
