TRIPLE MMM AUSTRALIA DAY ULTRA

Held in the south-west coastal town of Australind on the WA coast, the Triple MMM Australia Day Ultra provides a great number of ultra distances on a flat and fast course – perfect for setting PBs and records for 100km, 75km and 50km. There’s also a 25km on offer.

Twelve men and 4 women competed in the 100km distance.

In the Men’s 100km, Daniel Lucchini took 1st Male (8:06:49) whilst AURA member David Murphy from Floreat, WA claimed 2nd Male not far behind, with a time of 8:44:25. AURA’s very own Nathan Fawkes from Waikiki, WA rounded off the podium with a 3rd Male placing after crossing the finish line in 9:10:25.

In the Women’s 100km, the top three spots were awarded to Kirsten Buist (9:34:41), Katie Seghini (10:47:58) and Laura Firth (12:37:14).

There were four competitors in the Men’s 75km, with podium spots awarded to Glen Zuvela (5:38:31), Drew Mayhills (5:40:19) and Jamie Back (7:16:39), whilst in the Women’s 75km there were two runners – 1st Female was won by Caroline Arnoldi (5:36:10) and 2nd to Emma Clack (6:03:19).

Sixteen men and 4 women left the start line for the 50km event. Top spots for the Men’s 50km went to Kim Horton (3:39:57), Justin Kelly (3:45:53) and Tom Burgess (3:48:16).

In the Women’s 50km, AURA member Lee Anne Flugel from Applecross, WA secured the top spot with a 1st Female finish in 4:09:28. Kelly Thompson took 2nd (4:10:33) and Annie Harmsworth 3rd (7:15:28).

Congratulations also to AURA’s Brad Halls from Sawyers Valley, WA who raced in the 25km and finished in a great time of 2:16:41.

UPCOMING EVENTS

The first event on the AURA-listed calendar for the month of February is the Cradle Mountain Run on 4 February, where participants will traverse the famous Tasmanian region to Lake St Clair Overland Track in 80km.

Next will be the GoodRunning’s City Run on 5 February in the Adelaide CBD, SA with two ultra distances on offer – 60km and 50km. From 8-12 February, Ultra Series’ Delirious WEST 100 & 200 Miler will be held along the Bibbulmun Track in WA, whilst 19 February will see the kunanyi Trail Series – Potato Hopper & Snake Plains kick off in Fern Tree, Tas with a 21km and 13km on offer.

The 24-26 February will host the Twilight Series by GoodRunnings, with the Cosmos Run on 24 February, the Star Runon 25 February, and the Moon Run on 26 February. All in SA and offering up to 50km (with $5 from every registration going to Northern Adelaide Domestic Violence Services, a subdivision of Women’s Safety Services SA).
