Explore the rugged, ancient trails of the Pilliga Forest at this one-of-a-kind trail running event. In its fourth year, the Pilliga Ultra will welcome a diverse field of runners to traverse sacred Gomeroi Country.

Over the course of the weekend, you’ll be immersed in the beauty of the Pilliga Forest, get to know locals and join the movement to protect the Pilliga Forest against coal seam gas mining. The three-day event includes courses for everyone, including a challenging 50km Ultra, scenic 20km scramble across sandstone escarpments and a twilight 10km trail run. Or, you can do all three in the Grand Slam!

With generous cut-off times, this event is perfect for first-time trail and ultra runners, or people who just want to make the most of their time out on the trails. The PU10 and PU20 events are suitable for hiking.

As trail runners and hikers, we want to see beautiful and biodiverse places protected. Join us in the Pilliga, and traverse the sandstone escarpments and grass-lined creeks to experience its inherent beauty as a wild place.

Together, we will stand alongside the communities of the Pilliga who have been fighting fossil fuel projects for decades. This event will bring much-needed tourism and attention to the area so that more people can experience and understand the fragility and significance of the Pilliga Forest.
